Preacher from the Pew
Barry Fonarow and his wife Jan have been married for thirty-eight years. They recently re-joined Covenant this past Fall. Previously they were both deacons and greeters. They look forward to getting reinvolved in the church's various activities, programs, and outreach. On July 1, 2023, Barry retired after forty-six years in the insurance industry. Originally from Dayton, Ohio he began his career with the Continental Insurance Company in their downtown Chicago, Illinois offices. He transferred to Columbus and, after ten years, began work with the Kemper National Insurance Companies. In 1992 he joined Haughn & Associates, Inc., an independent insurance agency located in Dublin, Ohio and after thirty-one years he retired as the agency's Senior Vice President. In addition, Barry served as the board president of the central Ohio chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and currently serves and the board president of the Ohio Construction Academy (OCA); a forward-thinking charter high school empowering young people, often from difficult backgrounds to enter the construction trades. Personally, Barry's interests include being a classical guitar student and, with Jan, participating in the shooting sports, walking, gardening, and various activities that surround their two German Shepherds (Reese and Zilly) and their mutt (Bo).
Barry and Jan have also been meals on wheels volunteers and routinely provide fresh vegetables from their garden to the Clintonville Resource Center during the growing season.
